The plan settings allow you to choose if you would like to bill customers on specific days of the year or a set recurring schedule. In this article, we will cover setting up a "Specific Day(s)" plan on PayWhirl.
By default, new plans are set to bill monthly because it is the most common frequency of plan on PayWhirl; however, you can change the frequency of a plan (aka the "every" setting) to select other frequencies (daily, weekly, yearly) OR "Specific Day(s)" of the year.
When you set "Specific Day(s)" as the frequency for a plan, new fields will appear that will allow you to use a calendar to select a specific day(s) of the year to bill customers that subscribe to the plan.
You can add as many billing dates as you'd like to plans with a specific date(s). This flexibility allows you to create plans with custom billing schedules and completely random billing dates.
Each date that you add counts as an "installment" (aka payment). In this example, there are 4 specific dates added to the plan, so there are 4 installments on the plan (which you cannot edit). By default, when the final billing date passes and the last installment is paid, the customer will be unsubscribed.
Note: You can also chain plans together to transition customers to/from a plan with a specific date(s) to create an infinite number of billing possibilities.
If a customer subscribes to a plan with specific dates and one or more of the dates is in the past, they will NOT be billed for those past installments. Customers will only be billed for the remaining installments on the plan.
