How does pricing work for BigCommerce customers?

Learn when PayWhirl transaction fees apply to BigCommerce purchases and how connecting your payment gateway affects your rate.

Written by Larry Brager

PayWhirl transaction fees are based on your PayWhirl plan and apply whenever a product is purchased with a PayWhirl selling plan modifier.

This includes subscription purchases completed through:

  • BigCommerce’s native checkout

  • PayWhirl widgets

  • PayWhirl-hosted payment forms

Native BigCommerce transactions

When a customer checks out through BigCommerce, PayWhirl fees apply to any items that include a PayWhirl selling plan modifier.

For mixed carts containing both subscription and one-time products, PayWhirl fees apply only to items on a PayWhirl selling plan. The full invoice taxes and shipping rates are charged PayWhirl transaction rates. Regular one-time items without a selling plan modifier are not included in the PayWhirl fee calculation.

Connect your payment gateway to PayWhirl

To receive the standard transaction rate included with your PayWhirl plan, connect the same payment gateway you use in BigCommerce to your PayWhirl account.

The gateway connection allows PayWhirl to recognize that your store is using a supported payment processor and apply your normal PayWhirl pricing rate.

If the gateway used by your BigCommerce store is not also connected to PayWhirl, an additional 0.5% transaction fee will apply to purchases using a PayWhirl selling plan.

Payment-processing fees charged by your gateway are separate from PayWhirl’s transaction fees.

Please contact our support team if you have questions about your pricing or need help connecting your payment gateway.

Sincerely,
The PayWhirl Team
