How to change the order of subscription options in the PayWhirl Plan Selector

Visual adjustments for sorting the subscriptions on the product page

Written by Larry Brager

The PayWhirl Plan Selector is the block on your product page where customers choose a subscription option. How you change the order depends on what you want to rearrange: plans within a group, multiple plan groups, subscription and one-time purchase options, or the selector’s visual layout. Choose the section below that matches the change you want to

Reorder plans inside one selling plan group

If a group includes several options, such as monthly, every two months, and every three months:

  1. In Shopify admin, open Apps → PayWhirl Subscriptions.

  2. Select Plans.

  3. Open the selling plan group you want to edit.

  4. Use the arrow controls beside each plan to move it up or down.

  5. Save the selling plan group.

  6. Preview a product that uses the group and confirm the options appear in the intended order.

The PayWhirl Plan Selector displays plans inside the group in the order you set.

Use the up and down arrows to reorder selling plans within a plan group.

Reorder multiple selling plan groups

When a product uses more than one selling plan group, PayWhirl sorts the groups alphabetically by group name. PayWhirl does not support drag-and-drop ordering for groups.

The group name is the sort key, so renaming groups is the only way to change their order:

  1. In Shopify admin, open Apps → PayWhirl Subscriptions.

  2. Select Plans.

  3. Open a group you want to move and rename it so that alphabetical order matches the order you want.

  4. Save the selling plan group.

  5. Preview a product that uses the groups and confirm they appear in the intended order.

Note: Group names appear to customers on the storefront. Preview the product page after renaming to confirm the new names still read well.

If renaming does not produce the order you need, contact PayWhirl Support with the details of how you want it ordered on the product pages.

On the product page, selling plan groups display alphabetically by group name.

Put subscriptions before or after the one-time purchase option

The Display selling plans first setting controls whether subscription options appear above the one-time purchase option.

To change it:

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.

  2. Find the theme you want to edit and select Customize.

  3. Open a product template that contains the PayWhirl Plan Selector.

  4. Select the PayWhirl Plan Selector app block.

  5. Turn Display selling plans first on or off.

  6. Save and preview the product page.

Change visual layout and left/right placement

The Plan Selector style settings and your Shopify theme control visual presentation.

In the PayWhirl Plan Selector app block, review the style, font, price, color, and icon settings. If those settings do not cover the layout you want, or your theme overrides the look you expect, contact PayWhirl Support with the details. A theme specialist can review your theme and attempt a custom solution.
